ooking to upgrade to this skimmer. upgrading from the aquac remora, so there should be a big difference in performance. i found there to be two different types of the RS80 skimmer though. one made with extruded acrylic, and the other with cell cast acrylic. the one made from cell cast acrylic is about $40 more in price.

is the cell cast acrylic really worth the $40 extra?

All new ER's are cast acrylic.

If it is an older "ES" model, it is extruded acrylic.

For me, $40 is worth it.

Are you buying an older one used?

marinedepot.com has two different versions of the RS80. one is extruded acrylic, the other is cast acrylic.

It must be older stock....

I like the cell cast, but it's up to you in the end :)

The extruded one shows a different type of output.
