Seio,

there is also a hydor attachement that goes on a powerhead to create a rotating discharge, they do not work well on high volume pumps however

I think you mean the Powersweep?

There is also the Hydor attachment you can put on a Maxi Jet or similar powerheads:

I'm not big on the Powersweeps as sand can get into the mechanism and stop the swiveling action. I'm not saying the Hydors are foolproof either though, but I do like them.

I second the zoo med powerhead. It worked well for about 3 months. The hydor is a good choice but it will cut down on your flow as well.A guy I know made a spray bar using his return and placed 5 hydors on it.He has great flow, but he is using a mag 24 as his return pump in a 90 gallon tank.

I heard powersweeps stop moving after a short time due to calcium build up..

yeah they can, just pull them out for regular maintance and let them soak in vinagar, i just fill my sink up with hot water and add vinagar and let it run awhile and it works fine, although i dont like it much, it dont push out much water. i think you will be happier with a maxijet mod or somehting else, i'd almost give you mine. anyway, thats my 2 cents.
