Is there a canopy? If so, I would say you have a ton of options. If you are looking for a fixture, would it really matter if it was longer / wider than the bracing if it was mounted sufficiently high enough off the top of the tank?

On our 125g, we run two 400w 6500k Iwasakis + 200 watts of compact supplementation. I really don't like the yellow color all the much, but they do grow corals nicely. The tank is center braced and has glass covers, but the lights are about 10-12 inches above the top of the tank (installed inside a canopy).

I would not recommend 2x250w halides if you plan to run any high color temperature than 10K. Or, if you are working with a canopy, you could supplement with T5s, but since you mentioned space a constraint, this may not be possible. If you aren't going to be running any supplemental lights, I would think about 2x400W 14k bulbs.

3x250 in lumenarc mini's would work very well. I would use something like an xm10K bulb to get good PAR, and balance out the color with a couple of VHO actinics.

Sounds like a plan how are those ice cap ballasts.. also what would be the smallest bulbs for that size for supplements... on the light set up???

Well, they do make 60" VHOs. A Pair would be the biggest you could do. ou could also get away with a pair of 48" actinics centered on the tank.

I would do 2 Lumenarc III's / 250 10k SE's powered by HQI ballasts .... and either a pair of VHO or T5 SA's

I also have a 60x24x24 and I use 2x400 one left and one right and center I have 1x175. Depend on which type of corals you want to keep but one advice I can give you is go with the higher wattage light so you don't have to upgade in the future. I know so many guy start out with LPS and softy in 1 year then they switch to SPS then they have to upgrade their lighting system again. I will remove my 175 and replace that with 4x60" T5 and I will post a picture so you can see it. My canopy is 62" so I can squeeze 4x60" T5 in there.

I have almost the exact same tank but acrylic. I run 3 250W 14K Phx DE. No supplements. I have acros med and high and montis/zoos/lps lower. Works great. I know of another 150G that runs 400W 20Ks. Sort of depends how blue a look you want.
