Help!

I recently installed a skimmer (Octopus NW110) in the sump.

Now I have bubbles all over the rocks. Local store guy said these bubbles would go away in 3-4 days. Its been 2 weeks...and the bubbles have not decreased.

What do you all think?

[welcome]

Do you have a picture? It could either be that micorbubbles are catching and building up from the skimmer (not a problem), the rock is taking nitrates and breaking it down into nitrogen gas (not a problem), or that you are getting Cyanobacteria or Dinoflagellates that are trapping air and holding it near the rocks (is/isn't a problem).

Hey Travis,

Sorry don't have pic(s). But have noticed that the bubbles form only after my lighting kicks on. Thru the evening the bubbles disapate, then begin to form again around noon.

I am using 250W MH lighting unit from Current Sunpod. Tank is 55g with about 100lbs of live rock.

Lights on at 10:30am off at 7:30pm with LEDs thru night.

Sounds like oxygen created via photosynthesis in microalgal films (or cyanobacterial films).
