i recenctly bought a quad beckett recirc. skimmer i have a sequence manta ray(770W) to run it.im looking for a more efficient pump to run it to save on $$$.how much backpressure does a individual beckett create?i have a barricuda also that i could use but im thinking that a series 1000 5800gph way be better to use then a barricuda. they are closely the same amperage and wattage.which pump would you guys use on this skimmer if you were trying to save on monthly elec. costs.

the person i bought it from(blfuller) says that the manta ray seriously kicks butt on this skimmer but the power that the pump uses just adds to my allready high list of watt loving equipment.

I am hardly an expert, but I have always run becketts. I believe I once read that a typical beckett adds in the area of 7-10 ft of head.

I understand your pain. I use a Pan World 200 ps on my dual beckett..290 watts is more than I want to pay for, I couldnt deal with 770, thats just insane!

I am playing around with those numbers as well. Looking at brands like Deltec and H&S. I've started a spread sheet to calculate the cost savings and break even points. Energy costs are only going to go up! Good luck.
