200 setup with 1100 coralife
getting rid of my rio 2100. Although i researched with other reefers and thay all stated that the problems with rio were only with small powerheads anyways to scary to chance it.
4mjs' w/o mods yes or no?????

In a 200 gallon.......with softies....maybe.....not enough flow IMO with LPS and certainly not for SPS. Now, if you mod all for of them....then we are talking SPS territory

I have a 180 Which is close to the same as your tank. I run 4 MJ1200's w/Octura 2035 props and I think I will have to add another as my sps grow out is restricting flow.....So no, I would say that 4 MJ w/o mods is woefully inadequete for that tank.

i dont get it...4 mod 400 mj = way over 4000 gph...why woudnt that be enough flow?

I agree with the others...not even close to enough flow if they are not modified...I have a modified mj 1200, and it kicks...I don't think you'd want only mj mods..otherwise there would be no random flow, I have one mj1200 mod, and one tunze 6100 with controller on my 6 footer, just about right

I had 5 in a 38 gallon and ditched them cause they were not enough in favor of a tunze 6000 setup.

I have 4000gph on closeloop, 2200gph on 2 Seios 1100, Wavebox and 1000gph on return and still not enough. so answer your question, 4 MJ mod or no mod is not enough IMO.

IMO and IME, 4 modded MJ1200s running the largest 3004 Dumas propellers will be more than sufficient for keeping SPS in a 200g tank.

Each MJ1200 mod, as been tested, puts out approx. 2000gph or more in flow.

THe poster asked if 4 UNMODDED 1200's would be enough in a 200g tank.

I could see 4 modded ones doing it but without mods there is no way.

Yes I saw that. But my comment was geared more to those who thinks the modded MJs wouldn't be able to tackle the job.
