need featherduster help

My Featherduster blew his top! I was chnaging water and stirring up the sand a bit and noticed his big feather blowing across the bottom like a tumble weed. His neighbor opened up after a minute or so, and now I see him sticking his bare head out of his tube. Do I catch the tumble weed and throw it away? I believe he will grow it back after a couple weeks?!?

It will grow back over time. They do this when their stressed.

fast pH, alk, and temp. change can cause this to happen. one of them or all of them at the same time is usually the culprit. good news, yes it will grow back in a couple of weeks. have a good one and REEF-ON! :)

Actually I believe they do that when they are starving to death and unless they get enough to eat they will continue to do that untill they die. They need lots of live phytoplankton.
