hey everyone, i know plenty of people make very small skimmers, but does anyone know of a design or can anyone help me design one that would fit in the back of a nano cube? the lid is removed so there is more space to work with. any help is greatly appreciated

What about making a chamber in the back a skimmer. An acrylic square collection cup like on the MCE's and a It would just need a baffle and an air pump. the feed pump would be through the filter section itself

just an idea :)

aqua-c remora nano? is that like the link driftwood gave me? that may be a good solution. i havent done too much acrylic work before, but i think i can do it.

roxtonkrux- im not sure exactly what you mean. i was planning to put the skimmer in the rear chambers but they arent in any way sealed off. if i just pumped air and water back there it wouldnt it just go all over the place?

alright well did some shopping around...

looks like i have 90% of the supplies needed to make one of those nano skimmer right in town. any of you build one of those? would it be better to make a HOB version out of 1/4" or could i use 1/8" acrylic? also, where can i get some weld-on...the hardware store doesnt carry any?

Try here (http://www.tapplastics.com/) or maybe get ahold of some local sign makers ( large plastic business type signs). They use Weld-On all the time and may sell you some.

oh, i was actually looking for you. are you still willing to sell the cut acrylic pieces? that would be awesome if ya could. i found a hardware store with acrylic but the labor costs are more than the material. also, the cpvc you used for the injector model, is that the "thin wall pvc" or a whole other product? thanks for your help!

Undertheradar.I made your very first skimmer design for my 5 gallon nano.I had a RIO 180 melt down and toast the tank.It was so damn ugly that my wife threw it out..LOL.Not because of your design,it was my acrylic work.Man the thing was ugly, but worked great.I had it running a good 6 months

I dont have the time usually, but we'll see. I finally came up with a design for the Nano-cube, and I am kinda interested in seeing what other people think.

The idea works like this though, because the back of the NC is sooo crowded. the skimmer goes in one of the last two chambers (on a 4 baffle NC model), with the mixing pump for it in the other chamber, with its feed pipe going up and over this last baffle which is lower.

alright well dont worry about it if you cant, but just let me know. i have a little time before i get started on this project.

about the new design, i was actually thinking of something similar. but it would be a very small reaction chamber wouldnt it? i mean you can only get about 2 in^2 (square :) ) in one of those baffle sections.
