Hi,

I have a 6 by 2 by 2 with an OR6500 currenly as a return. I have Closed loops for flow. I find the OR6500 is too noisy for domestic harmony!!! It does make a definite vibration humm noise.

I am looking at replacement pumps and am after suggestions.

I have been looking at Eheim 1263 and Rainbow Lifegard Quiet One Aquarium Pump 4000.

They both have about 600+ GPH at 6' head height but I really want to know which would suit AND majorly which one is the queitest if all else is equal.

Cheers

The Eheim is your best bet!

i use an or3500 as a return on a 180, but the eheim will be the quitest of the two you listed.

Eheim. Quieter, and doesn't have restart problems like the QO pumps.

I've been thinking about using dual Eheim 1262 pumps as sump returns on a 280G tank. Most of the flow will be through the close loop systems.

Another option is a single larger pump, like the Sequence Reeflo Snapper or 4300.

Thx for the replies.

At this stage I think I will go the Eheim 1262 and am looking at a sequence for my closed loop in the next 6 months but not sure which one yet.
