Man is this frustrating. I bought a Vortec pump a few weeks ago. After 24hours of operation, the wet assembly popped off the glass. When I reattached it, it vibrated like crazy. I contact CS and they promptly sent replacement parts. This apparently didn't fix the problem (I believe I am the culprit here as I may not have assembled correctly) and they sent me a brand new pump.

Based on their superb service I took a gamble and bought pump #2. This one worked very well for about 1-1/2 weeks when this morning it fell off the glass for some unknown reason. Just like the first pump, when I reconnected it, it vibrates like crazy at max speed. I have done everything: examined spacing pins, checked for trapped air, etc. and cannot solve the problem. I have contacted CS to see what to do next.

I think this may be a batch issue as I bought pump #2 from the same place as #1. UGGGGH!

First I need the serial number off the driver unit. The replacement pump we sent, how is that one running??
When we got your pump back the only thing we found was a nylon washer behind the magnet on the wet side was not installed. After installing the washer it ran flawlessly on our test tank a couple days and then on a store tank for a special demo. This weekend it is running a tank in Maryland for a Reef Club.

Take apart the wet side and check for the nylon washer behind the magnet. Also see if you have the one piece plastic drive shaft or the white ceramic drive shaft & black plastic extension. Could be you got another one of the 1st versions and the wet frame needs replaced.

If you still can not get it to work properly send it in to me and I will fully inspect it and ensure it is in perfect working order upon return. Will turn it around in 1 - 2 days max.

I have found in most instances it is quicker and more efficient to return the pump for repair rather than to blindly troubleshoot and guess at what parts are needed.

I will send the S/N via email. I took everything apart and nothing is out of place. It is a 2-piece assembly and the nylon washer is there. The replacement pump is working great which has actually been a good control in this experiment. I realize I put the replacement parts together wrong. However, the is little doubt in my mind that something is not right with this pump.

I guess I have no choice but to send this back. Even with a day or two turnaround I will be without a pump for 5-7 days due to transit time which is pretty disappointing.
