View Full Version : Whoa, What Is That?! Fish Sick?
I just saw this moments ago for the first time. This hippo has been in my tank for a few weeks now, was in copper for about 2 weeks prior to my display. It appears to have happened over night. I didn't see it at all yesterday and he is eating well and acting normal. I know he's been sleeping in a tight spot in the rocks. I have no attack fish, two true percs, 5 chromis, one stary blenny.
Is he sick?

What really stinks is I just broke my QT tank down yesterday and I dont have a cycled sponge to use to start it back up again.

It's hard to tell exactly what you are referring to.

Ooops, thought it could be seen better.
See the white patch near the top of its head? Thats not a lighting thing, thats some kind of loss of pigment or scratches or something.

Could be the start of MHLLE
Make sure to feed a good variety of foods, add VitaChem and Selcon to foods and keep water Pristine
Tangs are VERY susceptible to Marine Head and Lateral line Erosion.

what comes to my mind is brookynella. if its is this- you'll need to treat ASAP. Ive used freshwater dips with limited success, but the surefire way is formalin baths. it is very hard on the fish though, so be prepared.
I am just guessing though. does it look like a white slimy area? Or just pale skin that otherwise looks normal.

Pale dry skin that would otherwise look normal. No slime that I can see.

VitaChem and Selcon? What are these and should they always be added to food?
