I have had this coral for over a year now and I have never seen it open but it has grown about 10% in diameter. It was bought as a Pagoda but i'm not sure what it is because every other one I have seen was opened and extened. I have it placed near the bottom of my tank thinking maybe that it wouldnt open because of too much light but doesnt seem to make any difference. Please post any suggestion, thanks! weird that if it is a cup coral, you've never had PE. Is the tissue hard or does it inflate at some point during the day. I just ask, because I have a mycedium that could pass as similar to your image. good luck...

This is pretty much what it looks like all the time, under full light or under LED's. (Just for referance the coral is about 3"-3.25" in diameter).

looks like a pagoda cup to me, in fact looks exactly like my frag. It really doesn't ever open up? Try floating it in a container or aquarium water and throwing a little bit of every food you have into the container. Let it sit for a while and see if it sticks its polyps out. Seems strange that it doesn't open, but I have corals that used to open that now don't and corals that didn't used to and now do, so anything's possible. Does look like a pagoda, though.

I have a pagoda cup and I have never seen it open up since I had it, three weeks now. Do these guys like a lot of light?
