I'm finally done with my CL and ready to install. Since it has more flow than what my tank is used to, should I use the ball valve and slowly ramp up the flow rate? kind of the same idea when you add new lights on a tank.

i'd go full speed. What's the point of choosing the pump if you're not going to max it out. Start out full... if it's too much, throttle it back. The additional flow will probably be welcome to most corals.

if there are corals in the way of the flow yes ramp up and give them time to adjust

I would definitely ramp it up. I once killed a new fish by turning on a larger pump on my CLS. It ended up being too much flow and I downgraded.

Depends on how established the tank is and what you have in there, and how long they've been in there. If you have ANY doubt, then just ramp it up... Can't hurt anything doing it that way.
