foam suctioning fro skimmers?

This is going to sound dumb. And maybee it is.

Anyone tried suctioning the foam out of a skimmer using a cheap wet vac?

I am thinking that it could either run on a timer or the vac runs whenever the foam hits a certain height.

Why ? I've gotten tired of cleaning skimmers and waiting for the foam to drop into the collection cup.

i hate to have to be the one to empty the vac after a couple of months :-P
