what is the best way to top off evaporate water?

right now I use a float valve to do top off for fresh water. I'm thinking about adding kalkwasser with it but I don't want to rely on the float switch since I heard too many horrible story with the valve. So what is the best way to add top off water with kalk. I'm not familiar with the dosing pump but don't they still need a float switch to activate the pump?

The float valve`s that have the bad rep is a hinge style like a kent float valve that are not electric . reed stlye float valves work perfect they control a electric valve not like a kent valve never a problem been using reed float switchs for years. There are some very cheap ways to drip kalk get a iv bag gallon jug etc and a valve set to drip stir shake container every couple of days let settle and start the drip.

Thanks for your input. I was reading another thread regarding top off and I was impress with the proteus from oceanus system so i decide to go with that unit.
