What types of equipments should I get

I have a 55 gallon tank (48"Lx 13" Wx 22"H) and need to get the following items for my tank and was wondering what type or ratings I should get:

I plan on keeping fish with corals in this tank.


1. Lights: I'm looking to get a T5 lights but what wattage? Also I want the moonlights and actinic lights.

2. Sump: How many gallons? (I'm thinking of 20 gallons)

3. Protein Skimmer ( I have no idea about this)

4. Return pump: How many gph?

5. Any power heads needed for extra water ciculation?

Also for the above items are there any recommendations from which store to buy from or brand?

20g sump would be fine, make your own with a glass tank
