My wife was kind enough to buy me the bulbs I have been after. I have a 70 gal. tank, the fixture is a 3ft long with 2x175 watt MH/ SE & 2x39 watt T-5. I have never seen such a crisp whitish blue color from the halides:) Who else is using these bulbs? and jeez they were expensive!

They are a little pricy, but the light is well worth it, I can't wait for the 250 watt version

I had done some checking with some people on whether they were worth it, and Sanjay suggested using these bulbs. I was using 6500k halides, but I never really liked them all that much, even with the actinics .

I'm using it without actinics on an Icecap ballast and I like them a lot. I switched from a 150w DE pheonix bulb on a magnetic ballast. I've noticed a lot more growth from my SPS since switching.

I believe they are suppose to have one of the highest PAR'S of any 175 watt bulb on the market.

I haven't seen any 175w bulbs close to their output.

Even 250w 14k's don't quite have as much output. Worth every penny, especially since it pays for itself in electricity savings vs. a 250w.

I am wondering since I'm no expert on lighting. The chart from that link uses the term "CCT" what does that refer to ?

I was wondering the same question, btw where did you get those bulbs from?

Thanks,

I take it that it means from that chart depending on the ballast used what the Kelvin rating would be ? or am I wrong?

I run mine over my 40g carpet anemone tank. Awesome light, by far my favourite I've ever used (and I've used a lot!). Can't wait to see it come out in other wattages.
