It is a T. gigas. It will be huge. If you give it Ca, it will grow at the rate of 3/4 inch in length per MONTH. It will soon reach 12 inches in about 1 year and up to 24 inches in three or four year.

You should learn about an animal BEFORE YOU BUY IT.
It does not really need feeding, but it does filter feed, phytoplankton. From looking at your tank information, I don't think you have enough light for it. I hope I am wrong. How much light do you have on your tank?

definitely a giga and a nice one. but as orionN said he's gonna be a big one, maybe not the best choice for a 55g. they grow very fast and get huge ( up to 48" or so ) you might want to consider exchanging him for a smaller species.

you should always do the research before you buy, to save your money and their life.

Agreed. Always research before you buy. That clam does not belong in a 55g. I know a big time clam keeper that won't put one in his 280! Best give/sell it to someone with a huge tank.
