Hi, all.
Just got my new MH/T5 fixture (Aquamedic 2xx250, 2 x 54 T5), and I'm having a couple of problems getting things running properly.
First, the T5s seem to trip my GFCI after they've been on about an hour. I've read that GFCIs can be sensitive to certain ballasts, but I never had a problem with my old PC fixture. I just plugged the T5s into a non GFCI outlet, but that doesn't seem safe. Any suggestions?
Second, the MH lamps don't seem to like to restart, after they've been on, then turned off (by the GFCI tripping!) Is this normal for HQI bulbs? Do they need to cool down, or something?
Third, the fixture is hanging from the ceiling (no canopy), and casts quite a bit of light into the room, which my wife doesn't like. Any suggestions on how to manage the light pollution without building a huge canopy with fans? The light is about 12 inches off the water, per the manufacturer's recommendations...
