Battery backup glitch

Ok, I need some help on this issue. I received the battery a few days and charged it up. When I unplug the cord from the vortech on the controller, the battery kicks in and runs fine. However, when I turn all power off, the battery does not kick in at all. I am at a loss to explain this. Any ideas?

Now, I just turned off the power while the battery was powering the vortech, and the vortech turns off. This is not good. So, in the event of a power failure, my battery backup will not work.

Well, now it's working properly. I have no idea what's changed since yesterday. Any ideas?

I am not really following exactly when the problem was ocurring. Can you please explain a little bit more clearly what is happening here?

What was happening is that when I turned off the power, the battery backup would not kick in. The only time it would kick in was when I unplugged the vortech driver from the controller. I have no idea why this happened.
