Yesterday I set up my 14 gallon BC. I used 10 lbs of LS along with about 14 lbs of LR. I removed the Bio Balls from the center chamber and added LR rubble in mesh bags. I'm not sure what I'm going to do there so I put the LR rubble in bags for easy removal. The first chamber houses my 50w heater. For now I have some Poly Filter in there also. Stock pump for now but added a Hydor Flo to the return. Here's some pics I took today. So far I'm very pleased with the BC.

Very nice rock work. I just got a 14 gallon Biocube. I was thinking about taking out the Bio balls and adding rubble too. That will work better?

Did you also take out the sponge filters?

anarchtech... the sponge is still there but I will be running with out it at some point. I believe the LR rubble is a bettter choice for filtration than the bio balls. I will also add some kind of chemical media. I'm probably going to go with Renew which I use in my other tank.
And thanks for all the comments.
