I have recently noticed that I have small spiral shaped items on my glass that have what look like feather duster "arms" comming out of them.

They are growing on the glass and are stationary, like they are glued there.

they are about the size of a small pod.

I havent been able to find a pic to ID them.

Any help?

Thanks for reading!

They are harmless I assume? I am still looking up info on them, and not having a lot of luck.

Yes harmless and can be found in most healthy reef tanks.

I agree they are totally harmless. My tank was covered with them. They just eat nutrients out of the water.

The only thing to keep in mind is that they do tend to grow in areas of high flow so be sure to clean out the impeller housing of your powerheads and pumps because they do have a tendancy to grow there and can clog up your pumps. here is a phpto of what I am talking about.
