I am a little confused about the closed loop set up. How do you run the closed loop into a fuge/sump? Is the sump system a seperate system from the closed loop? Is the closed loop simply to replace the jets in a tank for water movement?

I am planning a mixed in my 120 and want to know if the close loop system is something I might consider.

Please help Reef Central Professors.

Thanks,
Dave

closed loop has nothing to do with your sump. it is a seperate pump and it will replace power heads and do a much better job at increasing flow I am about jsut about to leave my house and go get the bulk heads for my closed loop then i will be drilling and doing all the plumbing let me know if you have anyother questions my tank is 100 gal and im going with 1 drain and 4 in

do you need to drill for a closed loop?

you don't have to drill but makes it nicer looking imo.

Okay the closed loop in the picture at melves is okay for a 29 gal tank but if you have a 120 your gonna want much more you will be better off drilling your tank is it glass or acrylic ?? acrylic is a sinch galss is easy up to u I would go for drilled

well im going to be having a 75-90 glass tank, and i dont feel safe drilling into it, else i would install my own overflow.

Well, my plan is to not drill my tank. I want to run a closed loop down to the bottom of the tank and hide the outlets with rocks. I kind of got the idea from this thread

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=956708

The second picture shows the pluming on the bottom.

Also how many outlets should I have for good circulation.

Finally I would like to thank everyone for their advice, it has been incredibly valuable

understandable you dont want to drill the glass. You can def do it without drilling. the flow you need depends on what you want to keep. you could do like one in each corner and one millde left back oof tank and one middle right of tank then you jsut have to decide how much flow to figure out what pump you want
