I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of lighting or flow or any other conditions that would make polyps extend more.

This is a bit like asking what makes a person's heart beat faster. The answer, many things, some desirable and some undesirable (like getting mauled by a bear).

If you started feeding them frozen rotifers, and other things of the sort (cyclops, baby brine, other zooplankton).

Also increasing the flow in your tank could also stimulate the polyps as well. Higher flow = more likely to catch food.

I would say Flow is one of the biggest contributors. Proper lighting, and as others have mentioned, good and proper feeding of the right type of food. I personally believe that Polyp Extension is a good indication of health. Certainly not the only way to be sure, but a good indicator.

Here is a pic of what I believe is A. Tenius in my tank. (If the ID is off, PLEASE lemme know)
