Not directly reef related, but does anyone know how to wire a 220v 2 speed pump. It's out of a hot tub and I'm going to use it for a pond. The schematic looks something like this.

Neutral ----

Line 1 ----

................High
Line 2 ---<
................Low

I know that the pump must be started on low speed and I'm guessing that all I need to do is switch line 2 between high and low to change speeds. is it this simple or am I missing something?

You can start the pump in high or low speed.

Just make sure that the high and low speed terminals are not energized at the same time. That is a sure way to burn out a motor. Make sure that you take this into account when controlling the motor.

Depending on how you plan on wiring this motor, also remember that when the low spped terminal is energized, the high speed terminal will become live as well as vice-versa.

you are going to need a switch to go from low to high speed...one leg will go to line one and the other leg to the switch to go from low to high....like stated dont feed both low and high or you will burn the pump.
