My tank is 77.5 in the morning and works its way up to about 81.8 just before lights out. I didn't think I had a temp issue but maybe I do?
Do I need to fix it, or will a mixed reef be ok like this?

Mimic - No xxxx. I thought something was up. When I put my arm in the tank, I feel different temps too. I am going to measure different areas just for grins.
Too cool! Really.

ya the lower you go the cooler it will be but not by a whole lot. I went snorkeling in rocky point (mexico...sea of cortez) last summer. The top 10 ft or so was about 80-83, and then once youy get about 10ft down you really feal a temp swing. Feels like at least more than 5 degree change, and fish were going from cool to warm nonstop, so imo they're fine. Its the stuff like corals and inverts that dont do well with large temp swings...the corals are used to sitting in one level...so if they're lower, they're used to cooler temps and if they're high on a rock, they would be used to a warmer temp. The fish didnt seem to care tho cuz they were going in and out of it.
