Fooled around with a macro of this coral and came up with this.

Can you guess what it is?

BINGO! It is an orange Ricordia florida. Didn't mess with the colors, just the texture.

Can you explain a little how you got this effect and what program?

The photo was taken with a 105 mm macro lens at f 11. A flash was used along with actinics to bring out the colors.

Photoshop was used to crop and the texture filter Craqulure was used to provide the texture.

You may want to experiment with the “stained glass” filter ;)

Yep Photoshop and some pretty basic filters at that. Try combining filters for some more unique looks.

This sure gives you something to do with those pictures that didn't turn out very sharp, lol. I actually used one of these filters on a picture that I took in Sedona Arizona, it printed off very nicely and actually looked like a painting. It's still hanging up in my house now :)
