We caught a pistol shrimp hitchhiker today. He's small (half an inch, maybe a little bigger), mostly white -- almost transparent -- except for some black guts, two beady eyes and one bright orange claw. Is he safe to keep in the tank? What will he eat/destroy? We'd like to get him back in if he's friendly.

Thanks

I had no problems with mine, I had him paired with a yellow watchman gobie and was pretty cool to watch work together! Now I'm BB so I got rid of them.

Does anyone know what type of pistol this is? He won't eat the hermits, limpets, clams, barnacles . . . etc.?

If you provide a pic it would help others identify it better!

Don't do it. The one I have hunts and kills small fish. I have been trying to get him out for months. Does anyone know of a way to catch these or a fish that will eat him?

A nice clown trigger should do the job.

ive got a large 3 inch one im my tank, the worst damage he does is occassionally causing a sand storm :D.

3" large lol, maybe 3" small. Mine is 8" and right now both my Huma Huma (2") and Clown are causing a sand strom and moving the rock I just got stung by while moving it back. Anyway my clown has eaten lobsters twice his size maybe I should rent him out on pistol and mantis shrimp control :) I was planning to eat the lobster.
