I'm setting up a 190g reef and the room it's going in is carpeted. What kinds of problems could I run into, if any?

I'm wondering the same thing as I'm about to start up a 120 in a carpeted living room?

I have my 125 and my 40 on a stand on carpet, no problems. Although the carpet gets really smashed down.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/sasscuba70/000_0472.jpg

i have a 72 and 50 gallons are carpet. Try not to get salt water on the carpet and should be fine.. The carpet will get smashed but will bounce back up again in no time once the tank is removed.

I had my 215 gallon tank on carpet and it was easy to have the fabric stand up again after I moved it. It did seem to sway more because it was on the carpet. With my new tank I cut up the carpet and padding to have it set on the plywood.

For all the guys on carpet, what happens when you need new carpet?

Just curious cause i will be starting a large tank soon and this is a problem iv been thinking about.

you have to drain and move the tank if you needed new carpet.

I am going to go around the tank with new carpet and splice a piece in later or I will just have to redo the living room when we move I guess. I am not moving the tank though.

and use a rubber mat when you work on the tank!

I put my 210gal tank on carpeting. Now I think that I should have removed the carpet & installed a tile floor. You just have to be very careful when you have carpeting.
I had a 56gal tank in the living room for over 6 years on carpet. When I took that tank down, the carpet came right back.

I have found when the carpet get wet the tank will sink a little bit because of the foam matting but once that is flat as a pancake your ok.
