How many of you keep anemones in your SPS tanks? What type do you find safest, move the least, etcetera? I am starting my first SPS tank after 7 years of sofie reefing. I will, if possible, want clowns hosting in an anemone in there.

haddonis if happy will not move. I hear ritteris and bubble tips move alot though.

I think feeding them weekly keeps them in place.

i have had haddonis and sebae and both stayed set after putting them in

I would not do it there is to much danger of them stinging the Sps. I have a 240gall and there still was not enough room, they always want the best light and thats were the Sps grow the best.I have seen people put them in pvc tubes with pull ties to make them stay put but if there not happy they will poisin your tank.

I've got one in my 80 hosted by a clown. It stays put but will sting the heck out of SPS it comes in contact with. I like it in there.

An Anemone will sting any SPS that is within reach...i've lost a few SPS frag's (that i thought were out of range).
I coundn't wait to get it out....had to upgrade to a larger tank to finally do it! :D

My advice, don't do it. Get a goni or hammer instead, your clown will host in those and enjoy it more.

I have 55gal, with a maroon clown, blue damsel, T. durasa, one acro., with a long tip anemone. The anemone has found his home on the bottom of the tank, and I will keep my sps on top of the rock. The anemone hasn't moved at all since he found this spot, and he can't swim, so I don't think that I will have a problem with it stinging my corals. The only possibility would be him stinging my clam. I know its a risk, but a risk that I guess I'm ready to take. Good luck.

I've found that if I aquascape a little bit of a barrier and feed right away and often the rbta's don't move.

IMO, stay away from BTAs. way too prone to move.

Sebaes almost never move, although they get much bigger than BTAs.

I tried with a LTA as well...now he's gone- not because he moved (never)
but because he would sometimes open up sooo big, that in my 112 he could reach and sting just about anything- they grow fast, and as they grow bigger their stinging reach grows as well!
Stay with an anemone with shorter tenticles.

"Ditto " on the LTA also, they get huge.

I have four RBTAs in a 20g frag tank full of various corals, mostly SPS. They've never harmed a thing in the almost 3 years I've had them.

I have a tiny little bubble tip anemone and it still moves around the tank on a daily basis (after about a month since it's introduction). I certainly wouldn't count on it NOT moving...

Have a Condie and a Hadoni, the carpet never moved from where I placed it, and the Condie adjsuted about 4 inches.

Don't forget they play chemical warfare in the tank with the sps. they don't have to necessarily be near to kill it. They release a toxin in the water that supposed to ward off anything near it. I have noticed from diving all over the world that anemones do tend to be off on there own and in very, very shallow water.
