View Full Version : what kind of softies in a 29????

just wondering if i can keep any softies in a 29 gal lps tank. i have t-5's for lighting and 1 maxijet 650 and 1 maxijet 1200. if i can get one i would probably like a colt.....is it possible in a 29 if i keep fragging....or will it get to big?? any help i would really appreciate.

You could keep any type of soft coral you like. It's up to you how large you want them to get but certainly in smaller tanks you have to frag more often to keep them to a manageable size.

thanks jonK i really appreciate it. i have just been hearing a lot about the toxins and stuff the they can release and can really devastate a small reef tank. Thanks again

Just run some carbon once in a while to remove some of the toxins. Water changes will help with that also. Lots of people have mixed reefs with no problems.

They do grow pretty quick but they seem to be fine with other soft and many lps not sure on sps tho

I wish my problem was trimming corals into frags instead of waiting for corals to grow... :-)

I keep colt in my 29 along with toadstools, xenia, gsp, finger leather, mushrooms, and frogspawn. They all do very well, I do weakly water changes and run carbon.
