Wich one do you guys recommend, it needs to be a hang on. I'm looking between the turboflotor 1000 Multi $224 or the coralife super skimmer 220 Gallons $169.99. I need to be within this range.

I would go with the Coralife super skimmer.

I have 5 3/8" clearance from the wall to the lip of the tank wich on would fit the 125 or the 220?

I would also advise him to get one but as he said, it needs to be a hang on. An octo would do great on that tank. I have one in my 65's 20 gallon sump and it collects brutal amounts of nasty skimate. There is allways a 1/4" coating of crap stuck to the riser tube on my collection cup when i clean it weekly.

Definitely get the CSS 125 or 220. I just received my CSS 220 for my 120G tank which is in the process of being set up. I've got the 220 running on my 55 for the time being and I'm "super" impressed. I love it. Easy setup, easy maintenance - I love it.

sorry didnt see the part where he said must be HOT. I would go for the css220 if you can fit it. Might has worked great! you need to be patient when learning how to dial it in, it can be pretty touchy sometimes.

I would try to get something that is made for a larger tank than what you got. It'll let you be able to run a higher bioload down the road if you decide to.

I think I'm going with the css 220, any ideas if it will fit in this space? I have 5 3/8" clearance from the wall to the lip of the tank. Thaks guys and Happy Thanksgiven

i think your going to need closer to 6" for it to fit.

scaryperson27
11/23/2006, 11:21 AM
yeah, you will probably need more space.

I think it's going to be tight this is the one I have http://www.proclearaquatics.com/skimmers.html I might need to drain the tank and move it a little.

Well I did it!! I just ordered from Big Als, free shipping. I got the 125 I don't think the 220 would fit on the back of my tank. I'm getting a really bad case of cyano now running withoug the skimmer for about a week. I sent out the other unit to the manufacturer to get it fixed and I will be selling that one on the sell forum or ebay. Can't wait to get it set up and going.

Update, finally should be here today when I get home, any tips so it won't overflow? I was thinking drilling on the top of the collection cup and running a 1/4 inch tube line returning to the tank. I've read a few threads on this skimmer overflowing.

Got it, that's a tight fit, good thing I got the 125, I installed and it's running now I will wait for the break in period with the knob all the way open, but it's foaming!! I took some pics and I will post them later.

Try sticking some Phosban remover bags in your tank, that should help clear the algae up.

That's is some stinky stuff it's pulling a bit wet but that will do for now until breaks in totally. I had to remove the sponges that came with it they clog up pretty fast and I'm using the one from my older skimmer. I have a small leak right at the union between the output and the output hose. Any ideas?

Can I put phosban in a hang on filter? penguin 330 or do I need a reactor

scaryperson27
12/07/2006, 05:45 PM
you could do that with a bag of phosban. I wouldnt try sticking media in a canister filter because it would end up going all over the place.
