View Full Version : Live Rock Question

I recently moved my 55 to make room for my upcoming 120. When I set the 55 back up, I removed several pieces of the LR and placed them in my sump (to wait until I had more room in my 55).
My question: I do NOT have a light on in my stand for my sump. Will this create a problem for the live part of the live rock?
I don't want to start some type of cycling of die-off.
Thanks,

you might see a decline in roraline but I have done this a number of times without any problems

And a simple, cheap shop light with a standard NO fluorescent light can even keep the coralline in good health. You can leave it on constantly without a problem. Even without light, you won't get any cycle unless the sump loses flow and oxygen for a prolonged period.

thanks, I actually do have a shop light mounted in there for helping me see what I'm doing...I'll just run this for several hours a day.
Thanks, big relief :)
