Hi Jim,

I have a few questions regarding the switch and the 8800 booster pump. My water pressure was low around 30 psi and I went ahead and bought the 8800 booster pump. Once I installed the pump, the psi jump all the way up to around 100psi. First, would it be okay to run the unit at around 100psi. If not, I want to purchase the 40 PSI 1/4 Quick fitting for 8800 Booster Auto Shut-off from you guys, but not sure what this switch would do. With this switch, can I lower the psi to around 60-80psi and also, when my unit auto-shutoff, with this switch, does it also shutoff my unit.

Thanks,
Jeffrey

In the last sentence, I meant to ask does it also shutoff the pump.

It does shut off the pump.

With this switch, can it lower my psi to around 60 or so.

It is OK to run our RO/DI systems at 80-100 psi. However With low quality membranes and filters in other systems this can be an issue. I just read a thread where people were talking about the carbon filters they were using being rated for only 60-80 psi.

The pressure switch is used to shut down the booster pump once your float valve or topoff switch has turned your production water off and before your auto shutoff valve shuts off your waste water. Your unit needs to pressurize to activate the ASOV but you want your booster pump to shutdown before that happens.

Thanks, Jim. My other question is does this switch lower the psi?

No it does not lower the pressure. One thing I have found is with a booster pump you may want to go to a higher quality pressure gauge to get a better high pressure reading.
