Hey guys, My glass aquarium needs to get cleaned with a magnet algae scraper on a daily basis because of a green film of algae. Is this green algae phyto? Does anyone else have this problem?

Its normal.. hopefully as you up your husbandry game, you will have to clean it less..

Its alge. It forms because there are excess nutrients in the tank. Try feeding less, skimming and do more frequent water changes and see if it helps.

I agree with the above....it's normal...my tank did this and later the green started turning purple...now i have coraline all over the back and sides of my tank....

its better to replace 1 gallon a day, then 30 gallons once a month. IMO anyway.

if you are doing say one 10 gallon water change per month... then try two 5-10 gallon changes per month (every two weeks)and see how it goes etc. etc...

We actually do 10 gallon water change every week.

You are using RO/DI water, I assume if not tap water often has phosphates in it that will cause algae breakouts.
