why do my mushrooms stretch? Its only when the lights are on. There in a 12 g aquq pod. I wish I had a pic cuz they are up alest 4 to 5 inches long and the clowns love em.

Mushrooms just as any other coral will stretch or reach out for light. Since shrooms are photosynthetic, they mainly live off of light.

It sounds like your lights aren't strong enough.

yep..the phenomenon is called "trumpeting" its a sign that they are not receiving enough light..move them up or buy better lights.

I like the idea of new lights. What would be to much for 12 g?

mine strech out from time to time and I have no real answer for why they do it. It is generally the same few mushrooms that do it. I my case it not a reach for light but maybe an attack on other mushrooms.

I have 2 27 watt one daylight and the other is dual actinic and I have had it for 8 month and I clean the plastic often. I have seen the small mogules 175 w I like the sleekness and design.
