Where is the best position in the tank for this morph? I have a 150 HQI over a 30 tall.
I have a frag tank too with 250HQI but I was told this is too much light.
When I picked it up, it already had some pale areas & I want to get it back to full grapeness

mine sits about 3 inches from the water surface, and my 70watt hqi and 55watt actinic about another 4 inches above that.
my polyps are super purple, but the body is browning a bit =P
i don't think i have enough light.

Tagging Along... I got a a couple small frags of this about 3 weeks ago..
2 are on the sand and two are in the middle of the tank under 250watt 12K MH bulbs..
I too am trying to figure out the best placement for them.

I have mine about 8" under the water line, indirectly under a 250W 14k phoenix. Colored pretty well, no brown, a light lavendar with blue polyps. Very fast growth.. faster than my orange cap.

Here's how mine looked when I had it 14" directly under a 250W Phoenix bulb:

What does it mean when it develops pale spots in the middle. Is that just stress?

Could be a spike in your alk.

I am running t-5's in a 24" tall tank (120 gallons) I have it placed about half way down and it is doing quite well there.
