Im kind of just starting out with all this reef stuff, and im wondering how far my light set up will get me for now. I have...
-2 48" T5's (28w each, both actinic bulbs)
-2 Power Compacts (96w each, one 10k bulb and one 10k/actinic bulb)
-2 36" normal output flourescents (25w each, one 10k bulb and one actinic bulb)

...that'll be a total of 298w.

You could make quite a nice tank full of soft corals...Leathers, Mushrooms, Xenias, even some low light lps and sps corals. The true question is usually, what corals are you really trying to place inside your tank. It took me about one year to switch for Power Compact bulbs to Metal Halides. For long term success I would suggest investing in a Meatl Halide fixture...and please don't rush out and purchase a MH just because, just know exactly what you want to stock your tank with. Good luck.

right now I have 2 finger leathers, 1 hammer coral, and 1 LTA. I think im just gonna keep the tank LPS and soft corals.
