View Full Version : low ph, high ca and alk?

So I've been using oceanic salt and my ca and alk were running high 600 and 4.5 respectively.
Unfortunately, my ph runs between 7.4-8-depending on the time of day.

I've read Randy's article on ph, several times, but I am still not sure how best to correct my problem...I am unable to use a refuguim as I have an aquapod (closed lid system). The problem does not seem to be my inside vs outside air as I did the air test. I'm unable to drip kalk since evaporation is only 1 cup per week and I think it will also raise my ca and alk.

Is it safe to add buffer or part 2 of an additive solution or washing soda to raise the ph. Any other ideas? Thanks.

I assume alkalinity is 4.5 meq/L? If so, I wouldn't add any more buffer for a bit.

Have you double-checked the pH kit? I don't think it's possible for the pH to hit 7.4 without a huge amount of CO2 in the air.

I agree that a pH low of 7.4 sounds unlikely to be accurate.
