I have been looking into buying a good unit, and was hoping I could get some suggestions as to what you all like to use? Seems to me like this is key in controling algae issues. I run a 54 gal corner tank so I don't imagine I need anything that can make more thatn 50 gal\day. Was hoping to spend close to 100.00. Have seen some around that price. 3 to 4 stage mostly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I bought one from ebay. $95.00 6 stage RO/DI unit. Shipping was $20-30 I think. Works fine for me and it has been running since Feb. 06. I have such crappy water here and just replaced my cartridges in it for 25.00 from the same guy. I'll PM the link to you

this is the model number

I use a coralife "pur-flo" RO/DI unit. It is one of the cheaper units, check them out on Marinedepot.com, and I consistently pull 0ppm water from it - about 160ppm out of the faucet. (I use a digital TDS meter)

Several of the sponsors here on RC build some of the best RO/DI units you can find unlike most e-bay "one size fits all" units. Steer clear of e-bay if you want something that is going to perform well and last.

www.buckeyefieldsupply.com
www.purelyh2o.com
and for the very best
www.spectrapure.com MaxCap RO/DIsystem.
All use high quality Dow Filmtec true RO membranesand build units with vertical refillable canister type DI filters which is what you want. Make sure you get a handheld TDS meter with whatever you buy so you can track the condition of the unit and the water it produces.

I have had no problems with mine, I know "a first" but I'm sure you will find one that suits your needs and wallet

I am also looking for a RO/DI unit. How does the Typhoon compare?

Its comparable to the first three but still lags behind the MaxCap.
