I know that I want to get a T-5 light for my 55 gallon soft coral reef tank. I haven't started my tank yet because I need to buy the light first.

I'm going to have a custom canopy built to go on top. I want to get the T-5 lights but I have no idea which kind. Any help on this one?

As all of us, I would like to get the most out of my limited budget. Should I get ballasts and build them myself or an entire kit. The type of lighting I want are the moonlights, blue actinics, and of course the daylights.

Can anyone guide me?

I have the Aquactinics 5 39 watt T5 unit over my 100 (36x278x24) and it is doing great! I would guess that hood would do real well on a 55!

Check out www.reefgeek.com for retro kits for your canopy. They probably have the best bang for the buck. Call and discuss your project with them. They'll give you good advice
