I have a hairline crack in an elbow piece. What is the best way to fix this without replacing the pieces? Is there a glue or weldon that I could use on it? Thanks.

is it leaking?

I can not think of anything that would be cheaper than cutting out the damaged parts, and coupling in a new elbow.

sometimes Piece of mind is the best option.

I would honestly replace it, after awhile it will start to leak. If your not home when it decides to leak, you can come home to a bug mess.

I would cut it out... but there are 'sleaves' that clamp around pvc that you can use.

it is the elbow on my calcium reactor and the elbow is alot smaller than ones that I can find.

Lyscer,

you might have to check at a plumbing supply store, but i would not be suprised if you can find what your looking for at lowes or home depot.

there are hot water pvc pipes that are usually an isle over from the standard pvc, and they come in much smaller sizes.

for a temporary fix, you might try doing a weldon patch w/ some type of plastic mesh material to assist in structural integrity. but i would not trust it for long.

believe me, a leak is not something you want to come home to.

If nothing else, find the parts online and order them. Best way is to cut out the damaged piece and replace. It's a bit more hassle, but well worth saving the mess.

Hi,

You can use the cement that you use on any PVC pipe to put the pipe together, just spread it on and it will bond the crack. Long term it might be a good idea to replace it.
