just curious if those using the Current USA Outer Orbit fixture which sports both 150W 14K Metal Halide HQI and 96w power compacts.

Does this lighting produce the "shimmer" effect? Just curious if the power compacts drown out the shimmer or not. Thanks in advance

I have the 36 outer orbit with the 10 k and 2 96 watt pc and it has a shimmer, not as much as my 2 x 250 but I am happy with the light.

how big of a tank do you have it on. That is the exact size I am looking for. My 40 breeder is 36"

Do you notice that the 1 Metal Halide only lights up the middle of the tank? Or does it nicely fill the entire tank with light?

I have mine on a 46 bowfront and it lights up the hole tank, I am very happy with the light. I would get the hanging kit thought it makes to much heat with the leg mount set.

I have the 48" on my 75. It shimmers and lights the entire tank. I love it.

would you guys say that this outer orbit is better than having (4) T-5 bulbs in something like a Tek light?

I have the 48" 2X150 W 10,000K + 2x96 w on my 100 gal tank and I do get the shimmers. I also have 2X48" T5 on my 300 gal and they are nice but the light is not the same.

I'm looking more for people that have the 36" version since it has one bulb. I'm trying to decide between these or just getting all T-5s and not having any shimmer, but gorgeous lighting.

My main concern is that the 1x150 Metal Halide light will act like a spot light on the middle of the tank. I have heard that it doesn't light the sides of the tank very well.

So you notice no "spotlight" effect from the Metal Halide, since there is only one MH in the middle? The ends of the tank are nice and bright and shimmering?
