Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me. I have a 50 gallon fresh water tank and recently developed a nitrate problem. One of my clown head gold fish died and the other one is sluggish. I have done several water changes and added Amquel+ each time, but the nitrate levels still max out my test strips, like above 200 PPM. I have also tried adding aquarium salt. My other fish seem to be okay. I have an angel, guppies, a clown loach and a few other community type fish. Any help would ceratinly be appreciated.

1) This is a SW forum.
2) What kind of filter do you have??
3) Would help if I knew what your other readings are...PH, Nitrite, and temperature, besides Nitrate.
4) Goldfish and tropicals do not mix.
5) Do not start adding things (salts, ect) unless you know why you are adding it, and for what.
6)How much water are you changing??
7) How old is tank??
