I regret introducing it - it's everywhere, and it's got little attachment nodes inside rocks and in the sand. Trying to pull a stem out just leaves pieces of stem at the attachment point.

Is there any way to get rid of it that won't involve hours of manual labor?

Sea hares will often mow it down.

Depends on your tank size. [Put your equipment list in your sig---saves time and hassle.]
Three things I know eat it:
1. a purple tang. Qt first! Potentially aggressive toward any pancake-shaped fish, esp other tangs. Must have largish tank!
2. a tripneustes gracilis urchin. [foster/smith]. Get a small one: they come up to 5". Can't get the roots, but will eat it where it appears. Avoids corals zealously, not too bad about shoving rock, but secure all loose rock and specimens with putty.
3. a scribbled rabbitfish. Will eat voraciously, is venomous, is spooky [dashes and darts violently] and requires a 50g + tank. Will eat any algae, any fishfood, and will take to nipping green corals like frogspawn if hungry.
