I´m planning a breeding system (1000g) and was thinking on putting some algae in the the reservoir hoping they can lower nitrates a bit and serve as food to some species being kept in this system and in a reef.
What kind of algae do you guys/girls think I can have in there ?
Thank you all !

What kind of species are you hoping to feed?

The algae would be used in home made food for clowns (one of the species in the system) and directly to tangs (zebrassoma and paracanthus) and small angels (centropyge) on the reef.

Hi David and all !
I´ve found your advise on hippo tangs here http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=991322
Ulva and gracilaria will be for now ! Any other suggestion ? Does these two can be supplemented for clown prepared food ? Heard there should be some plant matter on their meals.
Thanks !
Anderson.

I'm sure it wouldnt hurt to try and feed your clown some greens, but in my experience they do just fine without, and probably get any vege's they might need from algae growing in the tank.
