I am planning to move from a 20g to a 46g tank in the near future.

I was going to keep most of the 20g water as I could for the new 46g. Is this necessary????

The reason being that I have a few flatworms and was planning on dosing the 20g tank with flatworm exit. Thought it made sense to ditch the flatworm water and not put it into the new tank.

Any advice is appreciated...Thanks!

I've moved tanks quite a few times - since the live rock is already fully cured, I wouldn't worry about transferring any of the water, as long as you transfer a small amount - like 10% (which you will anyway within the rock and along w/ fish) you will won't experience much of a "new tank" cycle.

And I'd agree on leaving behind the water with flatworms (and flatworm exit) - but if you are going to erradicate the worms - be sure to give it some time so that they are all gone - no need to bring the worms into a nice new tank ;)
