View Full Version : Is it ok to mix a large and pygmy angel?
I have an emporer angel now, he has done well and is transitition from juv to adult...have had him for close to 9 mos now. Is there an issue with adding a pygmy to the tank? I am looking at getting a Potters Angel. I know the rule of thumb not 2 of the same, but was thinking maybe a large and pygmy might have a chance. Current tank is a 120, new tank due in late January is 200gal.
thanks for your input!

You shouldn't have a problem but Emperor's can become territorial so I would wait until the 200 gallon tank is setup before you add the Potter's.
Make sure that the Potter's has good coloration and is eating prepared foods at the LFS before you buy it.
I personally have never seen any specimans locally that I would consider buying.
I would be interested to see if anyone has bought one locally and has had it survive long term.
I guess i will need to add it to Johns order list ;)

Yeah, there shouldn't be a problem. I keep a Flame with my Blueface. They don't even notice each other. In fact, there is much more aggression between the Blueface and my Yellow Tang.

Yeah, I've had this one since 03'. Its a great fish. The bigger it gets, the meaner it becomes, but this is standard with most Tangs IME.
Cheers,
Jim
