View Full Version : My 30 gallon reef after 3 months...feedback please!

Heres my 30 gallon reef tank, its been set up for about 3 months or a so now. PLease leave some feedback, sorry for the bad pics.
Lives stock:
Oscellaris CLownfish, Algae Blenny, Green Chromi, Black Cap Basslet, 25 cerinth snails, 25 turbo snails, 25 blue leg hermits, 1 emerald crab....Pulsing xenia , goodamount of different zoos and buton polyps, PomPom(Anthelia), galaxea(i killed some so its recovering long story),green star polyps, finger leather, yellow fiji leather, bubble tip anenome, toadstool, frogspawn, hairy mushrooms.

since then i have moved the heater so it doesnt look terrible you can hardly see it now...and a few things have grown and moved aorund a bit since i took these pics....
also i just have 2 600 maxi jets, prizm delux protein skimmer, 150 watt heater, 350 Biowheel filter, lights dual PC's with actinics, forgot wattage but i like them a lot!

watch the galaxia... they have nasty long sweeper tentacles... it can extend them 6-10" depending on the flow and other conditions.

ya I have seen them xtend but they dont seem to be stinging n e thing

If it were me I would move that xenia elongata off of the main rock structure and put it on it's own rock in the sand. That stuff will take over your tank after a while. If that's GSP you might think about doing that with that as well. It will spread everywhere too.....but if that's what you are looking for the ignore me. Most people just regret it when they let thigs like that cover the rock structure.

I like the Zoanthid colony. Looks really pretty. Also with Xenia, can't you just keep it trimmed and under control that way, without it spreading around the tank? I recently found out at my local reef club that Xenia are awesome export buggers. =) I think they're pretty. I love the way they pulse and sway. It is very relaxing. How long does it take for them to take over a tank?

thanks for the feedback... ya I tihkn I will take your advice on that I know that both GSP and Xenia spread like wild fire....
MarineGirl: since ive had the xenia frag for about two monts it has more then tripled grown 3 more heads so the colony is growing quik!
