View Full Version : Monti Digitata wont open

My new monti digi wont open his polyps. The other 3 i put in at the same time all have but this one wont. I had him placed right beside the mother colony and he wouldnt open so i move him up closer to my lights and he still wont open. He has been in there since 4 hours befor lights out last night and my lights have been on for 2 hours today. Is he going to make it. Some of the polyps look half open but not all the ways. Do i have him placed wrong or is this normal. Its my first bunch of SPS.

Did you grab the coral with your finger. SPS are delicate and easily damage from average handling. I would give it a few days near the mother colony.

No it is attached to a plastic frag peg so i handled it using that. Hopefully the guy i got the frag from didnt touch it but i dont think he did cause all the rest are doing fine. Its just this one flame red monti i want the most that is doing bad.

It's not uncommon for a frag to take several days from placing them in your tank for the polyps to extend.
Is this a new addition?
